Joshua Cowboy Ministries was founded in 1992 and the name was inspired by the man of God, Joshua. Joshua was called to lead the children of Israel after Moses’ death. Joshua 1:8 is one of the most powerful passages in the Bible, it says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” NKJV This passage actually sets forth the mission statement for Joshua Cowboy Ministries. We believe that when you minister the infallible Word of God and teach people to speak the Word constantly and confess the power of that Word until you do all that His Word says, then through the power of that Word, we make our way prosperous and we do have good success!
Joshua Cowboy Ministries is a unique ministry in that we are called primarily to the Team Roping side of the western way of life. God has given us favor with producers, Team Ropers and Team Roping Associations since 1992 to where we are allowed to minister at between 40-45 weekends a year at Team Ropings ranging across the nation. At a large number of these we have both a Saturday and Sunday morning Church service in the stands usually prior to the start of the ropings. There are two producers who start the ropings and stop a particular time for Church on Sunday mornings!
It was through being out with the Team Ropers that God birthed in us a heart for the young ropers and in 1998 we founded the Young Pro Training Camps youth outreach within our Team Roping Ministry. This Young Pro Training Camp is an invitational camp to the top young ropers in the nation, we are blessed to have 6-8 National Finals Rodeo level instructors, all Godly men and several roping pastors and teachers pour into the lives of these great young ropers from across the nation and Canada. In 2007 there were 74 students arrive for this tuition free three day Camp. Taking young men and women who have attended the Camp, we select 12-18 to move on to the Young Pro Tour Team, a summer mission program that teaches 25-30 free Team Roping clinics in 12-13 states and three Canadian provinces every summer. There is also a Junior Pro Training Camp for the 8-16 year olds over spring break and this year we held our first Young Pro Family Retreat! (more information on these programs is located in the Young Pro web site). This has become a very big part of our calling and as you can see, the JCM web site is now contained inside of the Young Pro web address!
Our mission is still the same, empower the western world with the Word of God, teaching the body of Christ how to become more than over comers!
